This could get interesting - this is Norman Bateman, one of our forefathers of shark fishing and the man that caught a 13'2" Tiger shark in Texas over 40 years ago !! Great job guys getting Norman on the sand with the old faithful 16/0's loaded with dacron - I hope you guys get a chance to do battle with a good fish while hes with you !! Good Luck Guys !!!!!!!!

In any endeavour the brave will usually outshine the meek and the brave can produce results where the meek hesitate and miss the oppurtunity to be great. In land-based shark fishing being brave and smart are a plus that will propel the angler to make awesome catches if he dedicates himself with a certain degree of abandon for everything else. Some call this is obsession, others say it's just mere confidence mixed passion that creates outstanding results, in either case the Big Hammer Challenge brings out the very best in the best land-based shark fishermen in Florida.Any angler in this tournament that wants to win should push themselves learn to embrace the fire of the game .Never let doubt dwell in your mind. Those competing in this tournament should use all resources at there disposal to compete at the highest level and make the biggest catches.Beachcams, local fishing reports ,word of mouth and internet research will benefit those who are willing to travel to catch big sharks.Someone recently mentioned that bridges in the keys break weak shark fishermen unwilling to fight the odds there and who run to beaches to make EASY CATCHES but I completely disagree there is nothing easy about Beach sharking ,,,and hear me out-- ONLY THE BRAVEST OF LAND-BASED SHARK FISHERMEN fish the beaches in good weather and in Bad weather. It is easy to sit on a sleeping bag on a bridge lower your bait and WAIT but it is much harder to brave the surf to catch big sharks.

Brave men will take baits out in 6 foot seas at 3 in the morning because they are committed to give there very best and pushed by there need to win.A man will push himself to face his fears and slay dragons a shark fishermen instinctively look for a fight with the biggest adversary not bully the smallest runts.Push yourselves to find the biggest baddest sharks and you will succeed.Do not compromise with Team mates content to settle for comfort ,,,get uncomftable and make the extraordinary catches DO NOT ACCEPT LESS THEN 100 % from those you call team mates. Some anglers seek the comfort of a smooth sea or backwater bay looking for 8 foot sharks and this is ok if you seek comfort and a small token reward but if you want the big sharks in this tourney look for open water and big shark possibilities.Nothing has been written of cowardly men the brave and well prepared will always succeed at the highest levels.

With only days of BHC competition the bar has been moved to 10 feet 9 inches by a hard fighting Tiger shark caught by Cj of Team Lake Worth Sharkers.Three teams combined forces to brave the mighty surf and tangle with world class sharks. The viking warrior TimmyT has propelled his Team once again in the 2012 BHC and his leadership and bravado stand noted once again.Shannon Bustamante young powerful and a disciple of the legendary Rene de Dios started the night with a 9 ft 9 inch hard fighting Tiger and the rest of the night before the low tide saw three more Tigers caught in rough seas .The magic of the Tigers on the east coast was predicted by a few observant sharkers including myself but no one expected this level of Tiger cooperation which is a Record of sorts for the South florida Shark Club never before had any group of anglers caught four Tigers in one night.this is a wonderful start and this competition will only get better ,Thanks goes to allthe anglers who helped last night in one way or another.

Tiger Shark OneShannon Bustamnte Team 'Hammer n the Phenoms' 9 foot 9 inch

Shannon extremely excited to catch his BHC Tiger

the release

Tiger Shark Two CJ of Team 'Lake Worth Sharkers' 10 foot 9 inch

Cj is on to the biggest shark of the night a hard fighting and verfy surf stubborn Tiger 10 ft 9 inches

Big Dawg Tiger 10 ft 9 ft

Tiger Shark Three William Fundora Team 'Shark Fever'
7 ft 8 1/2 Tiger Shark

the runt on this night is my 7 ft 8 1/2 Tiger

Tiger Shark FourTim Swaggerty Team 'Lake Worth Sharkers' 8 foot 4 inch Tiger

The tail and Belly shot

We had an awesome night but it's time to do it all over again remember this a marathon not a sprint.
