Rays! miami
Im staying on mid beach is there rays all along the beach or is there some flats or similar within walking distance that hold more of them?
Any specifik areas exept grass flats?
Have been scoutign the area close by around 73 st and i find that the bottom around there is just all sand with depth differing as i walk. Do they stay on the shallow areas extending from the small sand capes formed by the currents ?
Around my area I usually find em in sandy spots and potholes that litter the grassflats. Wander long enough and when you run into one you'll usually start running into more. Or check out fillet tables or boat ramps where people fillet fish around the area, they'll come for the scraps and usually stick around the area. Sometimes I'll just hang out at a crowded jetty, pier, bridge or dock where there is a alot of people. Someone is bound to get one. Just ask em if they want it for anything, if not then you have yourself a ray
.
Im not sure what to tell ya man. Flats everywhere round here. Are ya trying to locate ANY sharkbaits or you just really want rays? In a pinch you can use damn near anything. In the winter time I have a tough time finding baits sometimes. Never have a hard time catching catfish, I just cut the spines off with my pliers and cut the tip off of the tail and tailhook them alive. They bleed quite a bit and struggle on the hook for a long time. Sandbars and Spinners almost seem to like em around here
.
Have some got cha plugs ^^
Gotcha plugs are awesome for snagging rays. Thats what I prefer to use. They're heavy, can sling em a mile, sink fast, can crank em fast and they stay down, 2 trebles snag on everything
. Can snag em with anything but I like the gotcha's
