when you guys use snatch hooks do you attach them to a rod or do you use a rope?

rod i use a weighted treble hook on a rod with 40lb mono and that does the trick. i snag rays off skyway and also out in gulfport

Yeah always with a rod and not a rope, they will see the rope and make it more difficult. Weighted helps for strong winds and currents from bridges but it spooks them a little more with the splash, have to try it out at your areas to see what works best. I use 150 braid on my saltist 6500 on top so i can just beast them up over the railing wherever I am at, use heavy line and make sure if using braid to have a heavy mono leader for shock. Stay on top of them!

If in schools this works great, where I am at though we get a lot of singles. My buddy at skyway just uses like 8 9/0 shortshanks like a sabiki rig and does well.

I snag single rays on my rigs all the time. I sight them cast over or in front and stick them.
