California has one of the biggest concentrasions of Great White sharks right off their beaches and in this site most sightings are reported regularly.Half eaten sea lions washing up on the beach and near miss Great White attacks on surfers are reported more often then most realize.

When i was staying at my grand parents (San Louis Obispo, a hot spot on the coast) their were three white sightings. One attack on a kayak, not kayaker, one surfer, and one sighting. That summer many people saw sharks.
