Good evening,
My name is Karl Guillory, I'm married, 56 years of age and live in Houston Texas. I joined this web site after finding it through a google search as I'm interested in shark fishing from the beach through the surf. As a long time fisherman, sailor, diver and lover of the sea and salt, I'm also concerned as to whats being done to protect and conserve the dwindling shark resource. My primary fishing location would be from Galveston following the coast west and south to maybe Port Aransas. Most important of all, I'm here to learn and will likely contribute once I have some "sharking" experience under my belt. Thanks for a great web site and I look forward to the comraderie.
Thanks,
Karl

I am 16 and have been fishing pretty much since I was born. I introduced my self to shark fish when I was probably about 13, mind you that it was for leopard sharks which max out at 7'. I live in California, about an hour and a half from a great white shark breeding bay, Tomales bay. I really want to figure out how to hook, by accident of course
, one of those bruisers. I fish almost exclusively from shore. I don't own a boat, but when I get a chance to go on one I do. I would love any advice or ideas any one has about fishing sharks from the shore in California.
Thanks

Hello everyone I am Ansel Warner Most call me Capt. Ansel or Mr Ansel as i am a Resort yacht Captain.
I have been fishing for shark along the coast of Florida for over 30 years: mostly from shore for 4 to 6 foot sharks to put on the dinner plate. That seemed to be the best eating size and using light tackle ( 20 lb test with 6 foot leaders) was a lot of fun to catch.
About 10 years ago i lived in the Tampa area so was doing a lot of fishing along the west coast of fl. before that i lived in Miami area so did a lot of fishing on the east coast. now i live in Kissimmee Fl so i fish both coasts.
Within the last couple years i have decided to start going for bigger sharks. with that i started searching the web to find out the different ways people were going after them.
The one thing I have found is if you take the number of shark fishermen and add 5 to it ,That is how many different ways people say is the best way to catch sharks.
I still enjoy learning and learn more each time i go out ( once you stop learning i feel it is time to put the pole away).
Up to now, I was just casting from shore as that got me the target size I was after, Now I am in the middle of building a kayak to run bait out to deeper water.
I like to fish in the Sebastian to Melbourne area so I hope to see you all on the Beaches soon.
I also plan on doing the BlackTipChallange again this year. It was a lot of fun last year.
