New guy from KY

Hello all, I'm a new member to the board but have been reading for awhile.

I'm from Kentucky and don't get to the beach much. But several years ago I went frequently and started trying to catch sharks, with no luck. I am heading to Anna Maria Island the first week of June. I'll hopefully be catching Kings and spanish from the Skyway and beaing able to use some for bait.

I built two 50# rods several years ago for shark, I have yet to get a catch on them. I've only had one run. They are solid fiberglass blanks with roller guides and a penn 6/0. I know thats not the best for land based sharking but if I get smoked then so well!

Hope to run into you guys while i'm down there!

It's good to catch a fish on something you've made. There's plenty of guys on here from Tampa, anna maria, and close places on the West Side, you'll find someone to fish with.

Just an average fisherman.

I had planned on fishing the rod & reel pier at night, as its close to our condo, but from the pictures I've seen on here the city pier isn't looking bad either.

If anybody wants to come out and show me how its done, by all means, I love being disgraced as long as its fishing and I learn something.
