Spooling the 14/0

I just purchased my fist 14/0. I originally thought that I was going to spool it with straight 100lb bullbuster, but then had second thoughts. The area that I fish is going to be by a rock jetty and I would hate to have a break off due to abrasion. So now I was thinking about going with straight 125 bullbuster. What do you guys think?

Go straight 200lbs. Either dacron or mono. I spooled mine with dacron and got over 800 yards of 200lbs. U can get over 600 yards of 200lbs mono on their.

if your fishing rocky areas dacron is thick braid and will cut quicker than anything, just use heavy mono 125 or up

Yeah I really think I am going to go with straight 125. How much should I expect to get on there if I pack it tight?

1000 yards more or less. But probably within 50 yards of that capacity

For me, the big appeal of a14/0 reel is the ability to go with heavy mono.

Braid on the bottom for added yardage and 130 to 200 mono on top,,,,the 14/0 is a unsurpassed historically proven MONSTER REEL.

The braid backing wouldn't be a bad idea if the area wasn't to rough. I personally am not a huge fan of braided line because too many mystery break off occur, whether it a rock, buoy, possibilities are endless. I prefer straight up 130 mono all the way for well needed abrasion resistance.

Moi Moi Diamond line has a thinner diameter than other contesting lines, which is what would obviously allow maximum spool potential.

Momoi diamond is actually thicker than most other comparable lb test monos, however it breaks at a much higher breaking strength. But one member catchingjiants tested it after stretch and after the initial stretch of the line the breaking strength was significantly lower than of the lb test correlated. For example just throwing numbers, say 130lb breaks at 244lbs first stretch, it lowered to 90lbs on the second......

heavy mono all the way. 125 150 or 200. that would be your best bet around the jetties and any structure.

Actually Moi Moi does infact have a thinner diamter. Moi Moi hi catch breaks at the appropiate breaking strength, while Moi Moi Diamiond breaks at a higher strain. For example: 130 Moi Moi diamond would break "180" give or take. I have my Avet 80w topshot of Moi Moi Hi-catch and its signifigantly smaller in diamter to

Being a Old School Guy I Use 125lb Straight, You Dont Loose Yards And You Got Good Line, Your Going To Have To Replace It Eventally, And 125lb 5lb Spool Isn't That Much Money

I just spliced a 200 yrd 200lb Bullbuster top shot over my 125lb BB, so I will see how that works.
