what's the best bait and method to catching stingrays for bait ?

BEST method is cruising shallow flats at night with lights hooked up on the boat either gigging or bowfishing them. However if you're stuck on shore like me some smelly squid and/or cut pins and grunts do the trick just fine...If you see one laying around nearby or swimming by you could always use a treble or a lure and snag it.

I second the flats. You can also get them wading during the day. I have had great luck in the panhandle walking down the beaches right at dusk and snagging rays as the swim by. I use my shimano fj 8000 with 50lb braid and a weighted treble with some success.
