Different ways to deploy your shark baits
It all depends on conditions how I get my lines out. Usually it is calm enough I can use a canoe I borrow off a friend. If not then I'll usually take a boogie board with me or borrow one from someone down at the beach. I've used swimming pool toys/inflatables, swam it out w/ scuba fins, had jet skiers and kite surfers take it out for me, floated it out of inlets w/bags, and sometimes at night I'll just wade out and heave it..the strongest run I ever had was on a bait I did that with just 30 yards or so from shore right in front of the first sandbar..the SOB made it out to the reef, rubbed my line the wrong way and was gone.
In the winter months I like to float my baits out in a cardboard box.
Here on the panhandle the north wind smooths the Gulf out and you can
reinforce a box with a little tape cut 2 joining tops off and tape the other
2 up like a sail. Set your bait in the box wind your leader down and cut a small
groove in the top corner to push your leader end down to keep it from poppin out
and it gives you some control over the box as shes sailing out. Works great depending on the strength of the wind you can drop a bait 400 yds in 5min. Card board is biodegradable so it's a little better than plastic bags. Turtles could use it for toilet paper
I had a guy tell me Herb Goodman fabricated a remote-controlled boat that could carry out a bait, then drop it when he pressed a button.
Being that I'm 13 I still have plenty of time to think of "great" ways to float out a bait So far, I've walked/swam a bait out 50yds
i found out the easyest way to take out baits. first u gatta go to homedepot then pic up one of them people who need work then upay them 20 bucks and they will take out like 10 rods there pretty good at yaking well at least the 2 that ive tryed are

Continuing to swim baits out will have a sad end at one point. When a hungry bull shark will swim by, the shark won't care if you're swimming nor kayak your bait out, as soon as the bull feels the blood trait - the shark will most likely charge at you. Being in a kayak, you'll have more chances, then swimming. Then in the best case scenario loosing a leg, will make the bait swimmer feel sorry that he/she didn't spent $300-$400 for a kayak - i won't even mention the worse case scenario - we all know what that is.
One of the ways i have taken my baits out is to fly them out with a kite with the bait tied to the tail. I had a quick release on it so all i had to do was pull the line and it would drop into the water. another way was with a balloon launcher to launch the bait out 200 yards. this last way works great and is safe even at night .
I don't know if I could swim a bait out, in Florida with Bulls, Tigers, Lemons, Blacktips and Hammerhead no way. I am a die hard fisherman, but I don't want to actually DIE HARD.
That being said I think I will swim my bait out at least once here in Cali just to say I did it.
Kayak is good, but my surfing buddy doesn't like the kayak in the surf, so he surfs the bait out. Always nice when you have a friend that wants to swim the bait out and doesn't want to catch the fish, his loose I guess.
