Day on the lake with new Hobie

Well there isn't much in the way of fish in this report, however I did get to take out my new hobie pro angler 12. This report will be more geared toward a review of the kayak. The first thing that really surprised me was how heavy this thing was. I had read about it being 120lbs fully loaded but you really can't prepare yourself until you actually pick it up. After working the pivot points I finally got it up on top of my suburban and headed to the lake.

I could go on all day about the bells and whistles of this kayak, but I am just going to focus on the key points that stood out to me. First off is the seat. This thing is amazing! I had a fairly comfortable seat in my frenzy, but that had nothing on the pro angler seat. Just the fact that you are sitting up is amazing. The second key feature that really made this kayak was the mirage drive. I was amazed with the ease at which I was able to glide across the water. As someone who can honestly say they hated to paddle this was a dream come true. I did have one nice hit in the 4 hours I was out on the water that pulled some good drag before spitting the hook. It hit my shad under a float so my guess was big gar. I still haven't slimed it yet. Hopefully I will on my next two week trip to the panhandle!
