Catching shark bait- got more then I bargained for..
Headed out On the 28th to catch some shark bait. Little Did I know I was about to be in for the ride of my life time.
Set out with a top water on one rod and a gotcha on the other.
Had a decent lady fish on and it came unglued half way in. 3 more cast later I hook this thing...

Fish was released un harmed and swam away quickly
Yeah, I know I Was kicking my self in the ass. I will purchase a tag. I will make a special rig with 3 big circle hooks and I Will live line a tarpon of any size!!!!
Thanks man. He swam off strong. Thought it would be best to walk him against the current and get the water flowing quick.
The whole fight wasnt even 11:00 long. He just about stripped 300 yards of braid off a few times. But the little sargus did it's job. My rod I built held up well too!! that was pretty cool.
Went out yesterday and lost one about 30 lbs bigger and had one well over 150 lbs crash my top water and missed it. Some big boys on the beach right now. I bet there are some hammers just out side the first bar following them around. tight lines
Yeah, I know I Was kicking my self in the ass.
Why kick yourself in the ass for releasing a fish that is much more of a challenge to land than the overwhelming majority of the sharks posted on this or any other website? You did right, very nice beach tarpon man.
