well i always wanted to know if it was really 800yds of 80 and it is way more than that(on chrome spool) i got 700yds of 100lb braid and 700yds of 80lb mono on mine and i could still fit another 150yds of 80 without a problem at all. so theyre specs are off by quite a bit. think i might throw some 200lb mono on to use up the extra room but love having 1400 yds on the 12/0 at the moment!
Yeah I have found that 80/800 spec to just be way off. I have got about 1,000 yards of 100lb packed tight on mine. I don't even have the chrome spool.
It all depends on the diameter of the line and how tight you pack also.

Penn has updated their specs to more closely relate the line capacity. Still can fit more in most cases though.
