Everol 20/0 v.s. Penn 16/0 Reel
I remember back in 1975 when the movie JAWS first came out I was 14 yrs old, I knew then and their that I wanted a penn 16/0 reel, In the summer months following the movie I worked with my dad and also cut lawns to save up for the reel, Finally the time came when I met a friend in high school (sophomore year I was 16yrs old) We had a common goal to buy the biggest reel available so we searched bait and tackle shops with no avail, we went to the Miami Boat Show that’s where we saw fin-nors, Everols, and others for the very first time but were to expensive for our budget and were not bigger than the penn 16/0, Back in the days there were no cell phones, no internet, really no form of advertising other than the newspaper and tv. Then one day Eddie and I met a gentleman on south beach pier promoting his business called Castro Bait and Tackle on Espanola Way near the pier so we went over and ordered two Penn 16/0 Reels. Here is a photo of my receipt when, where, and the amount for the reel.

I guess that I never stopped looking for the biggest Reel until recently I came across an ad that introduced the BIGGEST REEL on the PLANET EVEROL 20/0 REEL and I knew that this was the ONE!!!

Finally a reel I can say is made to handle the BIGGEST OF SEAGOING MONSTERS!!!
I MAY SET ASIDE MY PENN 14 AND 16/O'S aside FOR THIS WELL ENGINEERED ITALIAN MASTERPIECE.
OR NOT,,,WE'LL SEE. HOW IT'S WEIGHT VERSUS STOPPING ABILITY pans out.THERE HAS TO BE INCREASED DRAG PRESSURE COMBINED with Increased line capacity to say it dominates in our style of fishing
ps.......durability and performance will dictate what we Ultimately switch to,,,"necessity is the mother of INVENTION ''' price is also a factor for many of us
