Katelyn that catch is just nuts, Willie forgot you also knocked out the 50lb class category :!: :!: :!: I've tried incredibly hard for a 9ft bull for almost three years now and you did it on tackle that we use for blacktips! :o Another amazing catch from this tournament for sure :)

Just an average fisherman.

Jimmi Ive never met you but I am quite impressed of how you incorporated your wife into the tournament and how you unselfishly allowed her to catch some monster sharks all on her own when u could have easily taken all the sharks yourself. Im hoping my girl will be part of the tournament next year so tell Katelyn she may have some stiff competition :D

We fished almost every day and had very little luck.
I only got a Nurse this whole tourny...
I lost my 12 0 and a harnell...
I had King Kong himself on for abouit 20 min and got cut off by a tipper the same day I put new line on my 16 0...
I caught some nice baits.
My wife just started shark fishing but i swear she is lucky.
The first night she tried it JPSHARK let me cast a bait out on his 12 0 and she hooked a 90 inch lemon and rubbed it in my face.
Then the shortest drop and smallest bait dropped was a 8ft 8 inch lemon she got. :D
Then a casted bait off the Ft. Pierce Inlet produced a 9ft Bull when we were going for a tipper.
She has been rubbing it in that se can catch bigger sharks than me and there is nothing I can say back. :x
I guess I'm good at catching bait...

Will, Thanks again for running this tournament. It has been a lot of fun. Like I said before, I never thought I'd love the sport as much as I do now. I have had a great time fishing with some of the other teams and I have made some new friends (Meagan 8-) ) I can't wait for next year.

The last 2 weeks of this tournament were the best. Jimmylevelwind and I didn't lose hope. We kept fishing hard and it paid off.

To my hubby, I <3 you more than you know. I have grown to love the sport just as much as you have. Even though you're stuck with the nurse curse.... I still love you!!! haha. j/k I can't wait to finally rest for a week or 2 and get back out there and have fun again.

I want to congratulate everyone. No matter what, we are all winners. We have all come out and gave it our all. We need to have good sportsmanship.... It saddens me that people can be so cruel towards other people. It's not the END OF THE WORLD! I think it's childish how some of the people in this tournament have acted out against others participating in this tournament. Especially the people who have won previous years. Some of you "BOYS" need to act your age and GROW SOME KAHUNAS! BE MEN! Unlike my hubby, I speak my mind so take it or leave it.... I'm not trying to start anything but I know I'm not alone when it comes to people agreeing to how I feel about some of the people in this tournaments reaction. 8-)

Can't wait to see everyone at the 2013 BHC ceremony on the 19th!

:D ;)

Again, GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE!!!!!

The 2013 got off to an excellent start with lots of big fish the first week but then fishing stalled a bit when two cold fronts seemed to slowly roll over the state of Florida but after they were gone it was back to catching big sharks from the Panhandle south to the Florida keys.Several out of state Teams came down to compete and some had houses rented right on the beaches of different parts of Florida.Fun times on the sand ,a great way to start spring, take a vacation, and exciting way to catch sharks while sharing moments with friends and family .In the coming years we hope to attract more Teams from out of state to come down and get involved in our Big Hammer Challenge Shark Tournament.

For some the 2013 BHC presented a challenge when rules that were meant to verify shark sizes were forgotten or became very difficult to execute because many times Teams were fishing short handed and proper REQUIRED PICTURE TAKING became almost impossible.Next year we will give every team extra wide tape measures easy to see that will outfitted with a sharp tube at the front end that can be inserted into the sand to allow a lone angler to measure a shark while his companion takes pictures. We are always looking for ways to simplify things not make them more difficult so that everyone participating in this tournament can have trouble free fun while complying with the BHC rules.

There is system set up and in place to deal with complaints. If you see a blatant disregard for the rules or know of someone in the BHC that is cheating you can contact us via PM,Email or by phone and file a Formal Complaint,We will not accept hearsay or rumours your complaint must contain Valid information that indicates the RULES have been broken or completely OVERLOOKED.It is our intent to make this Tournament a fair Tournament for everyone who fishes it.

Here is a link to the Formal Complaint System. posting.php?mode=edit&f=69&p=46803

Some of the Teams that had sharks disqualified because of improper picture taking should try and work to better prepare and avoid hurtful disqualification because of silly mistakes. Always, Always try and fish with at least three people in your group to avoid many problems that can and will arise. There is no substitute for good preparation.

Planning ahead of time for our month long BHC tournament pays big dividends for the teams that prepare best .Teams that want to seriously challenge the best Teams should be willing to travel to make the best catches and should have Team mates that know ahead of time the effort that will be expected from them prior to the start date of the tourney.Fishing the same spots that time after time produce the same size and type of sharks will not put you on the BIGGEST SHARKS.Strategy should be planned and trips to fish good spots should be planned weeks and months ahead of time.Study what the best Teams do and where they fish and be willing to work and sacrifice and your Team also can be a CHAMPION TEAM.

This year we broke the record for most sharks caught by all anglers in the month long tournament with a total of 251 sharks caught by 47 Teams spread throughout the state of Florida. In the last part of the tournament the women really came on strong and had extraordinary catches of big Bull sharks.Diana Coupel(Team Jurassic) and Katelyn Harris(Team Palm Beach Pioneers) two very good sharkers took over for the men in there Teams in a big way--they caught some of the biggest sharks and on the lightest lines in the case of Katelyn(Spinning tackle, and 50 lb test). These two will be a force to reckon with in future BHC tournaments.

DESPITE THE STIFF COMPETITION WHICH SEEMS TO BE GETTING BETTER EVERY YEAR WE SHOULD ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT HAVING FUN WHILE OUT FISHING IS THE PRIORITY BECAUSE MANY TIMES THE TENDENCY IS TO BECOME ABSORBED IN THE COMPETITION AND WE FORGET TO BE COURTEOUS TO OTHER ANGLERS OR EVEN OUR OWN TEAM MATES.WE CANNOT LOSE OUR WAY we must not forget to be kind and help one another.THE GOOD KARMA OF HELPING ONE ANOTHER WILL PUT YOU ON THE BIG FISH AND SELFISHNESS MAY LEAD YOU TO A CLICKLESS NIGHT   SO PLEASE LETS BE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER OUT THERE -SHARE A SPOT OR TWO WITH A BEGGINNER SHARKER AND YOU MAY BE SURPRISED AT WHAT YOU CATCH THE NEXT TIME YOU GO FISHING.

FIRST PLACE BIGGEST SHARK CAUGHT BY A FEMALE BROOKE CRIST OF TEAM HAMMERLIFE WITH HER 9 FT 2 INCH TIGER SHARK

Diana Coupel of Team Jurassic

Katelyn Harris of Team Palm Beach Pioneers

It's been tough for our team so far, but the harder we fish the better it gets.
We changed spots and found a hot spot that we will be fishing again tomorrow.
We had 3 hits last night.

She did and awesome job of the running woman and set the J hook in Mr. Lemons mouth.

We all knew she had a nice one on.

Monster Bull on a 4/0

by Jimmy Harris
"She turned the shark after 1 1/2 hrs of running down the beach loosing and gaining line.
I grabbed the wire leader with Rippinglipsoff and his friend Jake tail roped the BEAST!!!
108 Inch Bull Pregnant Female that was worn out bad from the long fight.
We snapped pictures fast and revived the bull for about 15-20 min and she finally swam off strong.
If John and Jake and his friend didn't show up we would have lost this shark.
Thanks for the help Jake with the tail rope, John thanks for helping me drag this bull up on the sand for pictures and helping revive it".

Pushing the old Lamiglass to the limit!!!
This lemon was dragging her in!!!
