I met C Money 7 at the beach around 2. I was happy to skip out of work since the weather was warm and the sea was perfect for kayaking. Baits were deployed - Bonita, ray, King fish and bluefish. We sat watching the water with no shark action. Then I turn and looked at Carl and realized he has a bathing suite on and he is baking in the sun and I have a hat, pull over sweatshirt, beach towel wrapped around me and I have chills with the onset of perfuse body pain. I had an upset stomach all morning but nothing was going to keep me from the beach.
I decide I will stay to at least 6pm. I was disappointed that I was not going to make sunset; I was just to achy through out my body.
Carl landed a blacktip that was 59 inches. We did not bother with photos since it was not going to qualify. I started packing up at 5pm just after Carl landed his blacktip. We heard my 9/0 go off so we ran down the beach and get ready. Just to find out that we lost the fish and my 12/0 starts screaming. I have never seen line come off a reel this quick - unbelievable!!!!
I give the fish time to eat the Bonita head with a single hook, then I set the hook with the running man and the fight was on. I have a 12/0 with 500 yards of 100 braid as backing and then filled to the rim with 100lb mono. The drag was locked down and the fish would not stop. It felt like 15 min. of line going out. I burnt my forearm and inner leg on the very hot reel. We ran out of water so we started to pour soda on the reel. The fish would not stop and I had about 200 yards of backing left. We got the other pole ready so we can join the lines; luckily he stopped when I had about 100 yards of line left.
Everyone was screaming and we think we have a 12 to 15 footer on and was going to win the tournament. Carl cleared all the other poles from the beach and I went to work on the fish. Actually, the fish went to work on me. To make long story short. I had the chills, sweats, queasiness and aches. I wanted to cut the line about an hour to an hour and half into it. I even develop a huge blister from reeling on my right thumb.
Just a few minutes later coach Howard Schnellenberger comes over to see what is going on. He spouted off a couple of positive remarks that keep me going for another hour and a half. Team Shark Fever landed a foul hooked 9 foot 4 inch hammer. I fell to the floor in the fetal position for about 20 min. with chills, sweats and achiness. I left the rest of the work to the crew. I took very few photos and went home. I spent the last 36 hours in bed and just came back from the doctors. Diagnosis - Strep throat
Look at the photo above and you can see where the hook was set in the gut.

2 more sharks for TEAM SHARK FEVER, 5foot6inch lemon, and a 5foot9inch lemon. some drunk guy on the beach helped me measure it, and the second shark i caught while fishing with jdhammer and his son jimmy, we had around 8 baits out mostly fresh ecept the one bait that got hit was an old frozen bonnethead, i couldent believe it. keep up the hard fishing evreyone, and good luck to all. pics comming soon!
Team Hammer & the Phenoms add 2 more lemons; 8'3 & 8'10
These two lemons were caught last night,Jimmy Fuqua landed the bigger one which was 8ft 10,and i got the 8ft 3 lemon.
I am really having a head ache with my other lemon pictures caught a few days earlier due to it being a roll up camera, i finally got them developed, but now i need to find a scanner, and i was wrong with the measurement now that i got the pictures of my lemon, it was actually 8 foot 4. so my teamate Jimmy Fuqua has the biggest lemon now with this 8ft 10.
