My first Tiger, and some spring blacktips

Sunday afternoon I got an invite from Josh to come up and fish with him and a few friends, so right after work I headed out to hit the beach with them. Josh and I met up with Peter around 7, and between the 3 of us we had 4 rods out. Then shortly after dark, JD Fagan arrives and takes a bait out, giving us a 5 rod spread.

I had the lucky rod tonight however, as shorty after JD took his bait out, my 6/0 duel went ballistic, as the shark hit my bait and never slowed down. I went to set the hook and felt a massive weight at the end, surely this was the monster I had been dreaming about at work all weekend. Those dreams were short lived however, as the hook came loose, and the unknown monster swam free. As pissed as I was, I was even more determined to get another bait out, because upon examining my leader, it was chafed up a good 12-13 feet down from repeated tail whacks.

After re-rigging I took another bait out, and sure enough 30 or 40 minutes later my reel starts clicking once again, but this time i set the hook and im on. After a tug of war and a few nice runs, I had finally landed my first tiger that measured out to 9'3"

Josh and JD did an excellent job of clearing my line from tons of seaweed and a tangle with another rod as I fought this shark and then landing/releasing it quickly.

Thankfully the blacktips were't out that night, because over the past 2 months I've caught so many i stopped keeping track.

One night with my friend Rich and his gf Meagan we had 8 hits in less than 1 1/2 hours of fishing. Blacktips were on before we could even get back in from kayaking.

That's a good fish, my first tiger was big too, but I never got to beach it from the pier and get good pics.

Just an average fisherman.
