Florida Panhandle Report

I got to go down to the Panhandle for a week with the family and my girlfriend. It was pretty hard to balance family and fishing, but I managed to catch a few nice sharks and a personal best bull. The first night I got to the island I picked up some shrimp coming on to the island and managed to get a pretty nice stingray. I went over to the government cut and put out the plate sized ray about 30 yards. About 30 minutes later my 14/0 was singing and I had my first shark of the trip on the beach. I didn't get a measurement but would guess that this guy was around 5 and a half feet.

The next morning I went out on my kayak and managed to get a nice king while trolling. This was my first king from the kayak, and it measured 42 inches to the fork.

The surf and wind had calmed down significantly so I moved over to the beach side for the next couple of nights and caught some nice bulls. It seemed that bulls were the only sharks that were out there.

I convinced my girlfriend to take a picture with me and this 6 foot 3 bull. Maybe next time she will actually reel one in.

That night I managed to gig a nice ray right in the surf.

I managed to get a personal best bull for me which was an inch short of 7 foot.

I then broke the streak of bulls and got a small blacktop that went 5 foot 3.

The last night of the trip it got very rough again so I moved back over to the government cut and ended the trip with this little 5 foot 9 bull.

All in all it was a great trip and I wouldn't trade a second of the time spent fishing or with my family and girlfriend for anything.
