big bridge lemon 7/20/12

The night started out not too promising, scott picked me up at my house without any bait. we still decided to go and maybe cast net and fish for bait while out there (better than staying at home :P ). jd said that he had a nice bonita he caught at lakeworth so thats two baits right there that could last us a awhile. then jd said luis was going to meet us down there to drop offf some bait, but couldnt fish because he was heading home with his family in the morning. thanks a lot luis! jd put half of the bonita on his 12/0 and i put the tail end on my 14/0. i sat on the railing talking to jd when he sees his line start bumping then he gets up and starts feeling his line. right when he said i think somethings got it, it starts screaming. he picks up the rod, lets it eat and sets up on it good, and as soon as the sharks gets ready to pull drag it goes slack, he reels it in and the 400 lb mono has been cut. he rerigs and puts out a ray wing. while we wait my 14/0 starts screaming then gets a birdsnest as we get the line right i feel the line hung up on something and we later get it unstuck bait was on and without any teeth marks. later that night scott gets a nice skate which goes out live on the 9/0 after i helped it give birth 8-) . then scott gets a nice 30 lb southern ray. i drop a nice big ray wing on the 14/0 and about 20 minutes later right when the tide was slack i get a steady run, let it eat and then set up on her. i immediately get railed and the shark burns a good 80-100 yards had a good fight and then walked her and beached her. when we had the fish straight up and down it goes ballistic and starts thrashing and trying to goe under, no match for a locked 14/0 and doubled up 130 lb suffix. jd runs down to the beach and pulls the shark onto the beach we get some good pics then release it. no measurements... o well

after we released it we started to set our stuff up on the other side of the bridge and rig fresh baits. so i put the big 20 lb midsection on my 14/0

jd put a new bait on his 12/0 and kept the live skate on the 9/0 and i put a ladyfish on my 6/0
right after jd puts thew live ray out and starts rigging his 12/0 the 9/0 starts running and when he sets the hook it starts pulling good drag and cutting right, the fish gets to the fenders and is still pulling drag. i immediately climb the draw bridge control room building and jd hands the rod off to me. then the line gets stuck on the window and i manage it aroound it and get it free. before i get a chance tio even move back from the ledge the fish starts pulling again and yanks me hard almost ripping me off the bridge my heart drops because i almos fall 45 feet onto a concrete piling, plus im scared of heights :? . i hand the rod back to jd and he
resumes fighting it then it makes a hard dash under the bridgge and we look and the fish is inside a piling like a jewfish? but the line didnt break the hook pulled
after all that the fish was lost whatever it was. definitely didnt pull like a jewfish plus it jumped.. we never got another run the rest of the night. It was good ffishing and i give a big thanks to luis scott and jd for making it happen!
stay tuned cuz jd has some really cool fight pictures on his camera of the mystery 9/0 fish
