well today me and my dad and our buddy hit the beach to do a few hours of fishing in the morning before we had to be at a family bbq. we were gonna do a quick trip so took light gear. we had a 4/0w 2 6/0's and a 9/0. we put out a nice jack on the 9/0 a ladyfish on 6/0 mackeral on the 4/0w and another jack on other 6/0. 4/0w gets hit first of course but somehow cut us off. we are thinking the rock ledge that runs offshore here in Naples. later on my dad got a nice run on his 6/0 on a fresh ladyfish and after bout 15 min we had a 5' 10" bull on the beach and was released quick and swam off perfect. as we waited for another rod to go off we noticed the seagulls eating at some garbage that someone left from the night before which was mcdonalds bags with other trash. the part that sucked most was that in mix of trash there was 2 really heavy shark leaders with hooks so it was deff shark fishermen. hope this mess was on accident because thats the thing that causes ppl not to want us fishing on the beach. we cleaned up that and shortly after got another run on the 4/0w and after bout 25 min had another bull that was 5' 9" but was way fatter than the other fish.it was released with no hooks and swam off great. all in all it was a fun day. i will post some pictures of the bull sharks in the morning when i find camera cord lol
Yes that drives me nuts.
Thats why we don't tell people that we are fishing for sharks anymore. We had a successful day once and people were milling around. By 11 at night there were like 40 people hanging around. I had to get up the next morning and clean up the beach. Beer cans, ice cream buckets, garbage.
We bring garbage bags down and keep our stuff in a small area which makes things easier when you are tired at 3 in the AM. If people want to hang out, we give them rules.
