I spoke with a game and fish official about the new law that states that a mutiple hook cannot be used with live or natural baits while fishing for sharks. The mutiple hook is a double hook or a trebble hook or a 4 way hook. He said that as long as they are single hooks ya can put as many as ya want on the leader. He also said that a double hook rig is the definition for the way we use our hooks. Nice to get some good news for a change.

Excellent news but most of the time most of the FWC officers are a bit lost on specific information especially in light of the frequent and often contreversial laws enacted and changes to existing ones but I certainly hope you are right .Thanks Ernie.

I thought so, and yes some of the FWC are a little lost actually very lost, It all comes down to a fwc giving you a ticket and going to court and presenting a case on what you read as the law, as soon as a state court (that is very weak) reads what is written in the rules and regulations it will get thrown out in a heart beat, its very misleading just like many of there other many written regulations, you can tell they have a real genius writing there rules lol, but I have been and will continue to use double hooks until I go to court (if i get a ticket) and see what the result really is and I will keep everyone posted if I do find out

Big Will

I'm 90% positive you are right e polk, when we go down to the keys our double hook rigs are hanging on my rods half the time when they walk up to inspect coolers but ive never heard them once talk about our rigs.

Just an average fisherman.

Mutiple hook is a term used for treble hooks. Sharks are not the only ones ya cant use treble hooks on. the same termonology is used on the reef fishing laws and the officer i spoke with showed me that also.

Yes. I like my meat without jewelery, and i bet the shark does too. Small hooks will bend.

Did this ever get completely sorted out? I have several leaders already made up with a single Mustad 20/0 circle. I would very much like to add a trailing J or circle to my rigs, but don't want to get popped for it.
