[Sticky] The South Beach boardwalk-post 1984
In 1985 our much beloved South Beach pier on Ocean Drive and First street was demolished after many years of neglect the city of Miami Beach finally tore down our home away from home. The end of an era and a piece of our souls was taken away when that pier was destroyed and we were heartbroken but not defeated so we decided to fish as close to the old pier as possible and the boardwalk behind South Pointe Park right next to Goverment Cut just a few blocks south of where the pier used to be became our substitute fishing pier.At that time beach errosion had caused the sand to wither away into the Atlantic and the water lapped very close to the boardwalk so it was easy for us to row out our baits, set up camp on the boardwalk's wooden rails. We adapted to our circumstances and it worked out pretty well for us even after the beach renourishment left the water far from the boardwalk we refused to stop fishing our old stomping grounds. Here are some of the pictures of sharks caught from the South Beach boardwalk.
