Hello Fellow Land-Based Shark Anglers --
Mark your calendars for February 7th through the 13th and plan on storming the beaches between Vero & Fort Lauderdale, Florida because it might just pay off BIG TIME! This year's Blacktip Challenge offers numerous prize categories with awards including $1,000 for the BIGGEST shark of ANY SPECIES, cash for biggest blacktip and most sharks caught, custom-built shark fishing rods and some awesome looking trophies. Your $50 entry fee includes: tournament t-shirt, flag, tagging needles, tag applicator, measuring tape, and of course, plenty of chances to win CASH and PRIZES across many categories.
All anglers are welcome to take part in this innovative catch & release tournament combining competitive fishing with an expeditionary joint-research effort between NOAA, NMFS, the ILSFA and Hallprint Fish Tags that includes the use of brand new experimental tracking tags designed for shorter life-span shark species. Tournament committee members include: Will Fundora, Mike Palmer, Zac Meyer, Jeff Shindle, Jim Adam, The Paxton Brothers, Josh Jorgensen, Tom Kieras. Check out the links below for more details. The Custom Trophies that the first place winners will be receiving for Largest Shark, Largest Blacktip, and Most Sharks Caught are indeed custom. The winning anglers will be able to choose ANY design they want for their trophy, as long as fits within a certain size. We can even take a picture of a shark that you may catch in the tournament and engrave it into the trophy.

She'll be with me and the film crew as we visit the beaches our anglers will be fishing. She wants to see a big Hammer so hopefully someone will catch one when she is there! She will also be handing out the awards and prizes to the winners on the 14th!

Allright fellas the time is getting near next Friday we have the anglers meeting for this tournament at Juno pier at 8:30 PM and we need to plan for this so if you're fishing it let's send in your checks,catch bait,and make rigs for the Blacktip Challenge,,,,,,,$1000 up for grabs and tags will be handed out to each angler,,,,,I'm getting excited about next week.Im going up north to scout out a hotel on the beach this coming Saturday and i spoke to my brother jorge and he and his son Jorgey jr might also fish it,,,he's pumped.He has a commercial fishing license and business and has a well stocked freezer full to the brim with shark bait.
So far it looks like Jimbo,Aaron,Seaweed,Jimmy,Will,Jorge and Jorge jr will be representing the South Florida Shark Club in this upcoming tournament.Let's get it done guys.
