My fishing buddy was out this this week end and came up with some nice kings.Being that his freezer was full of meat he was nice enougn to give then up to me whole.I dont eat fish so this is my shark bait.I have one 15 lb,1,12 lb,and 1,6 lb.How good of a bait do you think this will be.I have used king carcas before with no luck, but never a whole king. What do you think?????They are in the deep freezer of death in my garage now wraped and ready for this saturday....Any tips on whole kings as bait would be great.Should i put them out whole, cut them in half????

I have never used a whole king as shark bait, I usually use a head with about 3-4inches of meat left on it and have had good results, even when frozen. If you grind them up they make great chum! I look forward to using a whole small king this spring.

We need a bigger hammer!

I do alot of king fishing and dont eat alot of them. I have had good luck with king mac. Its kinda like bonita but eaiser to swallow. Iv tested it against bo bos jacks reds and rays they eat them just as fast. When ya rig up cut the bottom of the gill and take his head off in case the bait slides up the line. not much meat in the head and teeth. Cutting the head and teeth is a good habit if the bait has the potential of cutting off ya leader. If its over 15lbs i cut them in half. use the whole thing if its small. one of the longest battles i ever had started with a 40lb king cut in half. Big Dusky, lost him in the surf. I think it was gut hooked and pulled through. feels bad to see a big fish and loose it. That is Elijah Lang and earnie polk wish iwould have took more like these.

That was back whin i beach launched, that is navare beach out about 3 mi its probaly 65 to70' . There is no pass close to navare the clossest is probaly 20 mi. the water is clean most of the time. It is probaly 60' a mile out. We caught those fish trolling live hardtails. its bad ass when they sky 30' off back of the boat. the close bait gets the big fish every time. The small boat lets ya troll slow, works great. Dont cost much.

The first day i took my new 14/0 out i caught a 20 lb king on a trolly he had sat on the pier deck all day as soon as the sun went down riged it with three 16/0 owner tuna hooks one in the head in mid section and one 4 finger space from the tail i yacked it 250 yards out 2 hours later i get aslow steady roll i let the fish eat for a good 9- 10 mins until i knew he had it down completly set up he pulled 150 yards of dead lock drag and cutt right through 460 lb american fishing cable i think it was a huge tiger the cut in wire was a clean cut so i think it would of had to be a tiger
