well honestly if i have a tag them "BIG WHITE BAIT" are the best but i dont want to pay that much for a piece of bait so i will stick to a grouper carcass.

the best tube lure is a live needlefish or ballyhoo :), the best big bait i'd have to say between a southern ray and a "yellowtailed-golden-sideline fish"

Just an average fisherman.

my favorite big bait at the moment is a barracuda bc they are easy to rig well and wont get eaten quickly by crabs bc of its tough skin.

the big baits that i really want to experiment with in 2011 are amberjacks and big rays.

my most productive bait at the moment is still bonita and i think that is bc that is what i have put out more than anything else during 2010.

does anybody have any new baits that they would like to try in 2011?

To those of you that fish live jack crevalle, are you only doing this freelining them off a bridge/pier, or have you tried this off the beach with your bait on the bottom? I only ask because jacks are strong fish, and I dont know how well they would do with a brick tied to the other end...would they be strong enough to either pull your weight or break your sandbag/brick line? I normally use 20lb mono to connect a sandbag to the hook.

Nothing beats a nice 20lb ray either whole or cut one wing off and drop the half with all the guts falling out which always gets hit on the biggest rod then the wing on another. That's for our hammers, lemons and tigers. The bulls like the head half of a 20-30lb jack, or a 10-15lb jack with the tail cut off. For the bridges cownose rays, a regular ray or if snook seasons open catch a keeper, fillet it and balloon that head out. Permit and pompano make great baits too. We've got a big permit carcass we can't wait to drop and all our permit that are 30lbs plus normally end up as sharkbait if we need it, they're not as good as the smaller ones to eat so they get released or eating by something big, I don't really like pompano either so the whole thing ends up as bait.
