I've used sharpnose up to 3ft. just put a 20/0 circle through the nose and drop them out past the second bar. i always kill them. no need to have them swim around and tie knots in the wire/line. one slice behind the pec fin on the right side and a slice inline with the anal fin on the left. gets some scent in the water but not enough opening for the crabs and fish to get in there too quick.
I really want to use a tarpon but i can't find any info if its legal or not with a tag. 50 bucks for a big hunk of bait aint noting compared to what charters spend for bait and/or lures sometimes.
