guys in boca grand it is not uncomon to see three or four boats dragin tarpon around the pass if you posess the kill tag you can do what ever you want with that fish you can book a charter where in the price covers the tag so people can see these monster hammers eat a tarpon as some one that fishes the pass i have donet maney times i have hook monsters up to 16 feet but i just cant seem the get them in it is allways something going wrong

just out of curiosity does anyone know what the punishment is for killing a tarpon or putting one for bait w/o a tag

Walter Maxwell used a stingray with the flaps cut off to catch that fish and all the shark they caught that weekend.
It was about 10 lbs or so. They used to see the schooling rays on the surface and gig they with a long gig or snag them with a treble hook..Thats what they did. The rays were always dead

i asked a fwc officer about this and he said if you have a tag you can do what ever with the tarpoon. just make sure to use the back half first.

the proff is in the pictures,go to youtube,search,big tiger shark.indonesia fishing.look at the bait it tried to swallow.so when you get a small one fat-en him up a litle(add a pair of 12 odd hooks to him) and send him back to to meet his uncle.i hope you have put new brake pad's on the winch.or get ready to hydroplane.good luck on getting him to obey the speed limit.

Actually Walter Maxwells record tiger was caught on a 20lb stingray. One of our new members was there at the pier that day when he caught it.
when i use live sharks mostly bonnet heads and small blacktips i put to large js one in the snout and one towards the middle of the back high up. i also tend to use a sand bag as a break away on a slider so the shark can move and stay alive works everytime for large bulls and big lemons
