st.petersburg shark fishing
Skyway usually has some monsters when the tarpon thicken up, AMI isnt that far of a drive from there (lots of tarpon there in summer, hence the big dogs usually follow). Pass-a-grille jetty usually has a good blacktip bite if you catch it at the right time. St. Pete pier has some resident monster bulls. You have lots of options just gotta get out and hit em.
Any beach, pier, bridge or any way you can get a bait on the deep side of the sand bar for big boys and any where there is salt water over 6 inches deep for pups! Dunedin causeway is a sure thing year round but the sharks are annoying while the tarpon are in town from about the end of may - September it is hard to catch a decent fish with out a shark eating your bait! We catch all species out there like blacktips, bulls, lemon, bonnet heads and hammer heads. The winter brings the duskys in and some bigger species like tigers and makos. I only fish a 4/0 know sold my 14/0 last week. It is my opinion that the big rigs are out dated and with the new braided lines useless. I challenge everyone to the 4/0 fish off, pack your trusty 4/0 with braid and see who can land the largest (weight) shark this summer? email me if your in, maybe we can get a little tournament going with some prizes. ![]()
