ive found something that i love equal to shark fishing and that is gigging rays..
my buddy and i went out to our ray spot with one kayak winds were bookin and it got cold and drizzled a little bit.
with me standing on the front of the kayak and my friend paddling the back we chased down some big southern and cownosed rays everywhere. after the first two we decided to pull the kayak into the shallows where we can properly and humanely kill the rays while standing in the shalllows tyler points out a big cownose cruising behind me so i jab the gig into it and this ray flips out and pulls free and rams tyler tripping him and somehow he grabs the gaff in time to hook the ray that just flipped him (theyre stronger than i thought) and threw it in the kayak. the kayak is so full of blood with about five dead rays in it there is a trail of blood in the water so thick trailing in the current so fast there was bound to be a big shark smellling it. so the same ray that rammed tyler we thought was dead in the kayak starts going nuts and flips out of the kayak... so i grab the gaff and run after it about 50 yards and finally hook it in the shoulder. so much fun.

Sounds like fun! I saw one ray at the shoreline in south east Florida for the year 2011. You are lucky to have that fishery.

Just take an old 5500 or 6500ss and slap 150lb powerpro on it. Grab the spool and beast em!
i know i have a reel just the handle broke off.

Gigging them is a blast! NICE BAITS by the way! 
If you guys like gigging you'll love bowfishing them then! Just get a cheap bow at a pawn shop, light draw, nothing special. ITS A BLAST! I may just have to take out the canoe this weekend and do just that My speargun is just as fun and effective but the water is a little cool for that.
Hey mattshark3198 instead of buying them why don't you try to go gig or snag some it's a blast when you get one
