Goggle Eye as Bait for smaller Sharks
Hey everyone,
I am new to the site as of a few weeks ago, since I caught my first two small sharks being two smaller nurse sharks. I had caught each of them on Goggle Eye heads I had cut up. I'm just learning what good baits are for sharks like blacktips and spinners.
I know nothing about Goggle Eyes besides seeing them when I bought them. I bought them frozen, then dethawed them.
Are they considered a good bait for fishing? And are they considered an "Oily, Bloody" bait that sharks like?
Thanks a mail! Just tryin to learn a little at at time.
Have a great week all!
Ray
I'll admit, it's the first time I've heard of them being used to target shark. But then again, I've only been shark fishing for 3-ish years. There are other baits that get talked about more when shark fishing like stingray, bluefish, ladyfish or bonita. I use mullet a lot, mostly because I can always catch some with a net and it's always in season for the shark to eat. You can get frozen "finger mullet" at most bait shops, which would be about right for the size of fish you're targeting. Is it the best bait? Maybe not. But if you fish often enough, you can try a variety and make your own conclusions.
