If there's any rookies coming across this thread, it should save you a ton of trial and error, yes some baits will generally work better than others consistantly, but if I am catching a lot of a certain thing in the surf then I run it out, even if I have a "superior" bait in the cooler. I have no hesitation running out a hard head (catfish) , menhaden, whiting, or lady fish over a frozen ray if nothing is hitting it. Now this for targeting 5-7 ft sharks, I just got the gear to start stud hunting.
I've found mullet to be useless if frozen as well. Hope this will help someone, everyone on hear seems to know what there doing
