Bonita is great shark bait ,because no other fish is as bloody on your shark hooks but the same blood that attracts sharks will draw in all sorts of hungry creatures to devour it shortly after it hits the bottom.Crabs,grunts,snappers,groupers,huge tarpon and huge barracudas will devour that bonita you have for shark bait.The bonita is one of the best ways to attract sharks but if the sharks don't hurry and get to it quickly everything else in the aquatic neighborhood will have a feast with it and a torn up mess of flesh that resenmbles road kill is what you end up with not long after your bait has settled to the ocean floor.No doubt the small fish tearing at the bonita's red bloody meat helps to disperse the scent in the current that the sharks and other predators start to home in on.How long do you think a bonita last on your hooks ?A few hours,4 hours ,6 hours? Definetly not all night.
In my experience its better to use bonita whole without cutting it, because if you cut it other fish will rip it up quickly and nurse sharks love them.

I've heard that covering up the bonita with pantyhose works well, I have not fished with one yet though
I too have heard that pantyhoes will help to make the Bonita last longer on the hook, I plan to try this in the not too distant future!
At the absolute most I would say a whole Bonita would last about 6 hours, though I have had them competely mutalated in three!

were gonna try the pantyhose thing this saturday. also i was watchin mythbusters for shark week and they tried different colored bags yellow was hit the most so im gonna try yellow pantyhose

I like bobos during the winter and spring. whin i fish them during the summer I reel in at 12:00 and re paddle a new bait. I thread with one hook so not to tear up the skin and use it whole. I like them better than any fish house head. Meat is better than bone says the shark.

i just use regular pantyhose from walmart
i havent had a problem like what your saying

It works against catfish if you fish it whole with the pantyhose......not gonna work if small sharks take a bite at it!Everything has it's limitations!

I've known about the panty-hose trick for a while but never tried it. Any of yall hook up with a bonita covered in that stuff? Just curious cause I want to try it but not loose the bite.
