Kids next to me caught him off skyway today, I helped him land, de hook, and release him. At the time I thought IT was a blacktip, but looking back at the few pics I took I might be wrong , what do u think ? The shark had a 18/0 circle in his lip from a previous fisherman, we got rid of that too.
It is a spinner because on its anal fin it has a blacktip where as the blacktip shark's anal fin is just plain white

The anal fin is not showing in either of those pictures but I do believe it's a spinner shark based on pictures I have of both species caught.
What you were seeing with the black tip is actually a pelvic fin.
Another indicator is the length and shape of the snout. Spinners have shorter and duller snout while blacktips have a longer and pointier snout.
