I live in the UK but I'm coming to Florida again for the 5th time. Love the beaches and fishing and coming back to Sanibel (light house end) and North Captiva in June.
I have about 30 years fishing experience in the UK but got into surf fishing since I've been visiting Florida. Last trip I managed catch a large southern ray (25 minute fight) on a heavy surf rod and some small sharks on light gear.
This forum and other websites have inspired me to seriously fish for sharks.
It's difficult getting heavy enough gear in the UK but now have an 80lb class rod and Tyrnos50 reel that I'm going to load with 130lb JB braid and a spliced topshot. Gradually getting the other gear in the UK or from the states.
Welcome and advice on fishing for sharks in Sanibel and North Captiva and where to rent a kayak from.
