Hi i'm William Fundora and i'm the person who created this website, and the person who helped Rene de Dios put together the SOUTH FLORIDA SHARK CLUB back in 1983.I love to share my passion for the sport of shark fishing with you and also help others who are interested in getting started.It is my sincere hope that you will enjoy,and benefit from this website,it is our goal to share our adventures and to further your knowledge of shark fishing.I have been shark fishing since i was 11 years old and have never lost the sense of amazement i felt as a kid while fighting a shark on a rod and reel.I was born in Camaguey,Cuba 1962 and my family and i immigrated to this great country in 1968.The island of Cuba has a tradition of fishing and my uncle Benito Lopez-(rip) was a fanatical fisherman who was the first to get my brothers and i into fishing.My brothers and i started at the old south beach pier on Miami Beach in 1970 at a time when Rene de Dios was a shark fishing force on that old concrete pier.Then in 1973 we moved 15 miles north to north miami beach and started fishing the Newport pier on n.e 163 st .Many were the days that my brothers and i spent fishing from sun up to sundown learning all there was to learn about pier fishing. Now as an older man with a wife and 4 kids i still love to fish and tangle with sharks and pursue them where ever they may be near a shoreline or on a boat.I hope i can help you in your pursuit of sharks or to gain some knowledge of shark fishing history.Thank you for taking the time to visit here with us.
