New to the Salt Life

(@sharkbait86)
New Member

My name is Ryan, I am 25 years old, I recently moved to Palm Harbor about four months ago from Memphis,TN so I don't have much saltwater fishing experience under my belt yet, but I have already caught many different species of fish including several sharks. I have tons of experience fishing freshwater including many tourneys, but have not had many opportunities for the saltwater game. I am getting as much fishing in as I possibly can but due to always working I don't get many opportunities. I do most of my fishing in the Clearwater Beach/Sand Key and Skyway/Fort Desoto area. The biggest shark I have caught is a 4.5 ft lemon and I have caught 3 bonnetheads in 4 ft range. I am hoping to meet some people in my general area to do some fishing with so I can eventually bring in some of the big boys! I have tons of heavy saltwater gear already, I just need to meet some guys with the locations and know how to start getting those lines tight! My number is 901-679-5653 and my email is rsellers86@aol.com. Anybody is more than welcome to contact me anytime if you are in my area and want to do some fishing. I work Mon-Fri so the weekends are always free. I am very patient in fishing and have no problem fishing all night! I really look forward to connecting with some good people and getting out there to catch those monsters.

I have a brand new penn 9/0 not spooled yet on an 8' 50-80lb Daiwa rod. Could use some advice on what to spool my 9/0 with. Also have a smaller penn rod and reel conventional combo 320GT level wind on 7' penn slammer rod and Okuma sea demon rod and reel combo both spooled with 60lb ande mono. Penn sargus 5000 spinning combo spooled with 30lb power pro, and a brand new penn sargus 8000 spinning reel that is not spooled yet either. Also could use advice on what to spool the 8000 with.

id go with 80lb braid on the 9/0. hollow core if possible and 100lb mono topshot. then you can do a knot less topshot knot.
