Hey everyone. My name is Andrew, I moved to Florida about 3 months ago from Wisconsin. I been shark fishing from the beach for a year now. I own a 12ft surf rod with a penn 950ssm with 500-600 yards of 40lb braid then topped with 150-200 yards are 40lb mono. I also have a 12/0 senator spooled with straight 80lb mono. I have landed two large nurse sharks so far this year and landed a 5'5 blacktip last year by myself i might add and it was my first large shark lol. But I am living here in Bradenton and am having little success on anna maria / bradenton beachs... Was hoping to get some advice and info on these beaches to see if I need to dump that location and fish other areas. Also if anyone has a good general area they wouldn't mind letting me in on that would be great too.

Also are there good beach spots that do NOT have a reef off the beach that still produce lots of large shark off the beaches? In my head i feel like the spots with reefs are 100x better then a normal beach with no reef off of it... can someone tell me other wise?

Welcome Andrew! Send a private message to JD Hammer. Today is his last day at the Miami Herald after 39 years & 9 months of loyal service. He is retiring & I know he'll be spending a lot of time in the Bradenton/Sarasota/St. Pete area. He would be the best person to learn from. You will love living in Florida! :D
