New Member Matt Vermilliano Co Founder Tiger Tamerz 13'9"
Matthew Vermilliano(I had to leave 1 L out of my username for it to fit)
I am 28 years old
Milton/Navarre, FL
I am already active and have been shark fishing from our local beaches for around 10 years.
I feel that the laws are too strict. A close by county(Walton) county prohibits it all together from the beach.
I like to fish off of Navarre Beach in the National Seashore which where I lived half of my life. Also I go to Panama City Beach, FL a lot to fish with friends I have made over the years there. Usually I'll shark fish from the Dan Russell Pier when I do go but I plan on hitting the beach over there during the upcoming 2014 BHC.
In Novemeber 2010 our crew landed a tiger shark from Navarre Beach that ate 12lb Bonita. After a 3.5 hour fight from the beach on a 10/0 Senator 116A with 150lb and 200lb power pro spliced together it was landed. We were under matched on this setup but luckily after dumping us on 3 different occasions and locking the Ht-100 upgraded drag up, it made subsequent beach runs allowing us to gain line back. Measured in the water it was over 13ft long at 13'9" and most likely a land based record. We did not get clear pictures of the measurements sadly and 5 different people took turns on the rod also disqualifying it from contention of a ILSFA World Record. Even though it wasn't a documented record we all were proud and still are of the accomplishment and culmination of several years of hard sharking. We did harvest this shark as it was our first over 10ft in a number of years. The meat was distributed to everyone and the jaws were mounted and will be passed around between the crew a few months at a time. They are the size of a hula hoop when stretched out.
I'd like to pay credit to my friends and fellow crew members that were apart of that epic catch. Some of who will be on the 5 man team for the 2014 BHC.
Chris Sims(On the rod)
Kyle Rourig(On the rod)
Chet Moyer(On the rod)
Mr. Harrison(On the rod, a first timer that is now hooked on the sport)
Jonathan Cuthrell (brought the shoulder harness in the 3rd hour)
I found out about this forum a couple years ago. Kyle wanted to get in the BHC the year after we caught the tiger but it never happened. This year Matthew Williams encouraged me we should join and enter the tournament.

I am dressed in the camo waders and Kyle is in the orange shirt.

It was a female but it had recently had her pups. Since it had given birth not too long ago it had a huge empty stomach cavity and probably weighed around 1000lbs. I found one caught similar size on the forum.
