Hey guys new to the forum looking to read and learn a lot. Really wanting to get into land based shark fishing from the beach. Been fishing all my life mostly fresh water with saltwater every once in awhile. Really want to start catching sharks from the surf. Trying to find out what a good spinning setup would be. Looking into a fin nor ofs 9500 loaded with some power pro 50-100 lb test and then a mono topshot I guess it's called. Want a spinning for now so I can cast it. Don't have a yak personally yet will soon, and eventually I would like to get a conventional setup. But any help with recommending a good setup to get me started, rod, if the fin nor is a good choice and what terminal tackle will be needed. Thanks Grayson
Welcome aboard. If you are patient you can find a great deal on Ebay for whatever you are looking for. I just recently acquired a brand new Penn V Spinfisher 10500 loaded with line and an Ocean Master 12 foot Rod Heavy practically brand new for a really sweet deal. I have the Fin Nor OFS9500 and I personally love it. I haven't used in the the surf exactly yet but I've pulled in some 6 ft bulls no problem. Let me know if you want some company sometime. I live in Clearwater and am fairly new to the shark scene but would love to start catching some bigger fish and learning more.
