New member, Sharker from NC
Hey everybody my name is John and im from Emerald isle NC. Ive been shark fishing for about 3 years now and show no signs of stopping anytime soon
Ive got a trip planned this march 18 in Boca Grande and hopefully will have a nice report for the board!
My preference in my gear has for sure been Penn 9/0's and senator rods. I currently use 2 of them with roughly 800yds of 130lb braid and 100yd topshot of 80lb mono on one and another with straight 100lb spiderwire.
Welcome
I look forward to your learning a bit about NC.
NC is a great place to fish when the fishing is good but when its not, its reeeeally BAD. At least where Im from we have minimal sandbars but loads of tourists which can complicate things. The water temps right now seem to be holding at a chilly 54degrees and there is nothing to catch. Hopefully april will bring some warmer temps.
Welcome John look forward to seeing some big tiger reports from your parts this year and hopefully you'll be in them.Lots of big shark history in the Carolinas and lots of piers to choose from so "GIt Er Done".

I sure hope so! As far as the piers go most of them have banned any type of shark fishing and are strict on using bait smaller than your finger. I tried a few times at bogue inlet pier about a mile from my house and the fishermen who disagree with what you are doing rat you out to the authorities. Its pretty sad but i like the beach much better.
Thanks for the welcome
Welcome to the forum hope to see some reports from up that way.
For the most part we have the same local ordinances and crap from
other fishermen you get there. But we're startin to stand up for our
rights to fish for whatever we want to fish for. Don't let em drag ya
down.
