First I would like to say thanks!!!! This fourm is full of GREAT info!!!!! I have beem fishing the central east coast for 35+ yrs. 2011 is my first year targeting shark in the off season from the pomp. and all i can say it has been a blast!!!! Due to the economy I am converting some of my gear to get me started. 1st I am casting a 6500 baitrunner with 40lb P.P and a top shot of about 25 yds of 60 lbs big game mono, on a 15ft uglystick. still working on a good castable leader set up. Also I fish a 113h spooled with 60lb P.P and a 6/6 big water ugly stick. That I mainly swim, raft or throw out. During this summer I matched the hatch whitting in the surf, whitting on the hook = big rays mainly, but I have landed a few black tips and 1 lemon . If there is anyone in the brevard/volusia area let me know I would love to learn more and help in any way let me know. Thnks Mike

Great to have you with us and hope that we can continue to be a resource you can gain from.Ron Geraci is a local retired roofer fishermen in your area and is always willing to meet up with new sharkers give him a call when you have a chance. You may decide you have to upgrade to bigger reels when you hook one of the many monster sharks that frequent your local beaches.Good luck. Gear up grade will be soon 1st on the list is a kayak! I have had my baits paddled out 3 times. 2 times for free and the 3rd cost me 10 bucks. I need to hook up with someone north or south of C.N.S since they are open from sun up to sun down. I have been tempted to venture south of Cocoa looking for an area to fish at night. From what I am reading we are are on the back side of the sharking, that will hopefully give me time to sell my 68 fastback impala to fund the new found love of "modified surf fishing" I cant belive its taken this long to fish big bait big fish theroy!!!! I will always have 1 rod out with a pomp rig and shrimp or fleas just because.

balloon some baits off bridges for now until you get a kayak just as good as the beaches if not better i find it more fun than the beaches and way easier personally.
