New from Ga
Hey all
I'm new to the forum but have been shark fishing for about three years, but only serious about the sport for a year or so. I fish in the Gulf and Bay county area. Usually try to spend a weekend on the sand at least every other week or so. Any guys that are in the area that have the gear ( I have mine ) and may need an extra hand or just another fishin buddy, I'm down to help, learn, or share what I have learned. Some folks say that its stupid to spend all that money on gear, and take so much time to catch a fish just to take its picture and let it go. Well its way more than that to me. I'm really excited to join the land based shark fishing community and help preserve the sport.
Welcome! I lived in Ga, born there, so welcome to Florida! Been kinda slow around here but I guess the bite is off so not much happening. I mostly fish the beaches from Sebastian to Juno and always try to throw in a trip to the Long Key Bridge in the Keys, an epic place for big girls. I don't yak my baits, only cast. That's okay because there are monsters right off shore here in S. Florida...at the right times, of course...big enough for my tackle. And it's always good to have someone around to help hustle them in. What you said about people laughing or making stupid remarks about your shark gear, they have never felt the power of a shark....never ever, so they have NO idea what they are saying. Once you get smacked around and practically tortured by a nice shark, sometimes for hours, it will change you forever, IMHO. So don't let them discourage you. Shark fishing is a great sport, and the reward is, well, it can be HUGE...if you know what I'm saying. It's all about the fight and then the reward is to see them swim off. You can't say that about other fish, for sure. It's a total rush, from the wait, to the hit, then the fight and of course the release, you never know what's out there and you never know what you may face. When I fish the Long Key Bridge at night, the hits are down right scary! Again, welcome to the community
