Just joined and glad to be here!
Steve Honc has posted here concerning Harnell rods, the brand and its history, so I have been in and out occasionally because I am addicted to their old Venice, California rods; enough that I decided I'd better join to read and learn as much as I can.
I live in Texas and kayak and fish both fresh- and saltwater, the fresh in Central Texas and the salt at High Island between Houston and the Louisiana border, and Aransas Pass,-Port Aransas and then a little farther south, around 30 miles, on PINS outside of Corpus Christi.
I have fished on and off all of my life, and even so am far from highly knowledgeable or an expert; I just keep trying.
Unfortunately, I am hooked, no pun intended, on Harnell rods, the 542s and 552s in particular, but all in general; I love those dudes even though some consider them oldtime and antiques, but then they fit me fine because that is what I am, too, at 71.
I am a fulltime veterinarian who gets away from the office monthly for kayaking, fishing, flytying, and trips to the coast, and occasional backpacking to the Texas Big Bend.
I am glad to be here!
Ray
Looks like you have a great background, lucky to be fishing and hiking around at such a young age
. This site has a collection of old and new including pictures of sharks and harnells, hope you got some cool pictures to add to our site.
Just an average fisherman.
