Hi guys / gals

Hi,
new here. Names Chris, I moved down to the treasure coast in Feb from PA.
My wife and I used to shark fish from the beaches of Assateague island.
We have been catching some nurse and blacktips...all under 6 foot. I usually use
a spinning surf rod with 25lb mono to 50 mono leader to a hook rigged on some malin wire.

I want to know if any of you have kept a shark to eat? We never have, but I'm thinking of keeping
one around 4 - 5 foot.
Anybody have experience cleaning / butchering and cooking shark??

Thanks in advance.

Chris

yea first thing u want to do is gut it. sharks piss and shit through there skin and as there dieing that has no where to go so it stays in the meat. so gut them as soon as u get them. and if u want u can cut the head off first. but watch the head for up to a hour it can still bite. u. lol. good luck and post some pics of the sharks you get.

Welcome to the site.Keep a nice 3ft plus blacktip.Like everyone says bleed and ice down asap.Either steak or filet like a regular fish(nice no bones to deal with)then cut filet into nice strips. Also good ideal to soak in regular milk or butter milk over night before eating....good luck dave m....tpa
