Hello everyone, this is my first post here but I have been reading for a couple months now. My name is Matt and I live in Columbus, OH and have never caught a shark from land before  . I always make at least one trip down to Florida a year and I have tried the past couple times with no luck. I will be making a trip down in the middle of July and have made it a point to my girl and my family that we are not leaving Florida till I catch a shark from the beach lol.

I will be staying on Siesta Key and wanted to know if there are any tips for the area to go and I really need some help on gear selection. I know everyone wants monster sharks but for me I need a great multi-purpose setup that I can use for monster cats up here, as well as for sharks from the beach and tarpon. I prefer casting/surf gear since I wont have access to a kayak while I'm down there. I have decided on a PENN Spinfisher V reel in anywhere from 8500-10500. I just need a good selection on a rod as well as terminal equipment. And any advice on reels helps as well I'm not 100% set I just want to know what works best for you guys! Thanks for any help in advance guys! Good Luck out there!
