How to make a Trolley Anchor

these are very popular at the pier i fish at for catching king fish, Spanish mackerel, tarpon and even small sharks. these are casted out on a surf rod or any rod that you can get some distance with and then stuck in to the ground. and then the rod is inserted in to a PVC pipe to keep it up right. then you have another rod that you have your king fish rig on and you attach a clip to the eye of the swivel then to the "trolley" line and then sent down the line. this will get your bait out father then you can cast with no weight and keep your bait on top of the water. now lets get on to assembling this "trolley anchor." Materials needed: 1: roll of tape (i used masking tape because that's all i had i do not recommend that.) 2: metal cloths hanger 3: at least 3oz lead weight 4: wire cutters 5: swivel (optional) now on to the assembly. 1: get all your materials ready. 2: cut the hook off the cloths hanger 3: cut the rest of the hanger in half at the bottom. you should have some thing like this now. 4: tape the weight in to one of the hangers so it stays in place. 5: take the other half of the hanger and put it on top of the other one so it forms a box around the weight. and tape that up. 6: tape the bottom of the box up so the weight cant fall out if you did a bad tape job on the weight it self. 7: bend each wire at the tape so it lays flat or close to it. 8: now at the end of each wire bend like a inch or so of the wire up so it can stick. 9: now tie it on to your trolley line cast it out and stick it and catch some nice fish. ill get more pics of the set up later if i go out in the morning. sorry for the bad pics but my cam died on me.

Another way you can this is to drill out the middle of your weight,push your coat hanger through to your liking & then compress the sides of weight with a hammer until your legs/spikes dont move. These are easy to make & loosing them is not a big issue due to what you have into them.Just a suggestion & hope it helps in the future

I did this last night, and i like this idea better then putting the weight on the inside and wrapping it. It doesn't allow the weight to mve at all, and i added a big snap swivel to the top, just to make it a little quicker to just snap on and cast out.
