Yes. I am a little upset with the piers around here. I've been MANY times and have only managed to catch skipjack, spanish, and a few ok sharks (one time). There's just not the amount of fish here that are further down south or in Orange Beach. I haven't seen a king landed. Not one. I heard of a few in the spring...but not many. And I don't care to endlessly cast a little hardtail into the wind and current for no reward whatsoever. So this modified trolly thing was to be my motivation for getting a nice bait out while I jacked with the other bs fish around. But that's not going to happen either, I guess. So I'll be boycotting the piers and just fishing by my house when I can for sharks.

It slides down because you use it off a pier so your raised up and gravity does what it does and when the fish hits the water he goes where he wants up and down your line

kind of. we make our own clips out of cheap snap swivels, beads, a egg sinker and some wire.

I use a plastic clothespin, a rubber band, 6in of light line with an egg sinker or two, and a cheap snap swivel. Just a cheapo depot outrigger clip. We lose a few from time to time. We "outrig" Redington pier or Pier 60 for Tarpon and kingfish depending on season.

With the second rod and clip setup were fighting the fish without any weights or anything attached between us and the fish. Just a hook leader and swivel, I jump off alot more Tarpon with a weight on my leader. Also you have control of the depth of the bait. Ive been wanting to give the 1 rod technique just havent fished the piers lately.

ill use 2 rods because when i trolly its either for tarpon or king mackeral. and for either of those species it isnt much fun at all cranking one in on a 6/0. plus with kingfish you use light drag and for a king to pull out the anchor id be afraid it would pull hooks.

I use a squidder with a 40-50 star rod 8ft 30#line and a 5 ounce claw never had hooks pull from anchor once and I use the same for tarpon and have landed a lot of kings and tarpon just one rod tie a balloon on the snap swivel ir use abig billy bob float on the mainline to keep the bait swimming at the most 6 ft deep

All my friends fish breakaway and i believe it works but so many issues occur rocks break off don't break off get stuck its annoying i would rather spend the 2-4$ ona big lead and whatever if my bait drifts 20 yards....
