De hooking made easy!!

Some times a big hook is hard to get out. The best de hooker I have ever used is a simple rod holder. I use a 2" pvc about 3' long. I cut the line and slide the pvc over the leader all the way to the hook in the fishes mouth. I pull the leader tight and give the pvc a good swift kick. The pvc takes the width away from the hook so ya can get it out with out re hooking. This method can remove a treble hook as well. Useing a single hook makes the job eaiser and quicker. Recon I can put a hurting on ark de hooker. The pvc works alot better and has many uses.

No just a streight pipe. Just cut ya line and put the leader through the pipe. Ya could modify and try difrent stuff but i like to keep it simple. A knotch might help a little.

hey epolk i was thinking about this my friend uses circle hooks once in a while can you use this method on circle hooks. i used a pair of channel locks to get a j hook out yesterday by pulling the leader parallel to the fish and just popping straight out.

Simplicity and innovation at its finest, i've never even imagined doing this but based on how you described it, it will work perfectly unless you have a ridiculous sized barb.

Just an average fisherman.

Depending on how long your hook trace is, you could also just unclip it from the mono section of your leader and avoid having to cut the line...just a thought.

Could you loosely loop the line and send the loop through the PVC and use it like that? That way you wouldn't need to part the line at all.

I had a tough time sat night unhooking a very large Goliath. Every time I tried to grab my hook he would bite down and flop once or twice. With my hook in hand my arm was in PAST MY ELBOW! I remembered reading this post and applied the tecnique described. It worked perfect! First try! No screwing around and beating the crap out of the fish, I didnt get bitten. Was fast and effective! We got our pic's and the Fish swam away strong! We all left happy. EXCELLENT POST! :D
