What are we as shark fisherman?What is the best part of the sport?
For me personally the best part is the meeting new people ,making new friends and building solid relationships among like minded fisherman.One of the benefits of this site is the chance to meet other people who enjoy land-based shark fishing,it's history and the oppurtunity to further the sport in these very challenging times by building strong bonds among fisherman who understand the sport and the importance of defending it.Little by little I meet more and more people who recognize and understand the dangers we face.These new relationships are significant and the internet and this website is the vehicle that will carry us in unity with one common goal-"Defending our sport"
Not everyone that shark fishes will have the fortitude or the maturity to take up the cause of land-based shark fishing and be willing to fight for it, but I have found through new friends developed on this site what is to become the foundation for a strong united shark fishing brotherhood.There are no interest among those that have taken up the cause -there is no monetary gain,or lure of anything other then the chance to fight for our way of life and the chance to fight for our sport we hold very dear.I welcome any and all who want to join us in our efforts to protect and uphold the sport of land-based shark fishing to join hands with us and walk forward with us as we face new challenges that are affecting not only the shark fisherman but all the fisherman of Florida.Regulations are being enacted and new ones proposed that will have negative results & affect us all if we do nothing at all fishing in Florida will be so over regulated that our children and grand children will not have the same opputunities that we had .Thank you all for your contributions to the sport.

Awesome write up! I wish I knew how to become a member. I moved down to South Florida (Boca Raton) from New Jersey, I am 34 and a former Law enforcement officer. I am retired now due to injury. I am the type of person that will fight to the death for what I believe in. I have fished my whole life and and shark fishing is a passion of mine. Being new to the area, I have been asking a lot of questions trying to learn how the sport of shark fishing is done and where exactly I can go to fish. Already I am being told that on some, beaches like Delray, Shark fishing is prohibited. Now, I don't really get why shark fishing would be prohibited on any beach. It seems to me that the liberals are always sticking thier nose where it doesn't belong without having any knowledge of the subject. People need to realize that fisherman are the biggest conservationist out there. Without us, there would be no money for conservation. Anyway...again, nice write up Will, and I agree with you 110%.

But also for me is when I am there in Florida I am at ease, when I am there on the beach listening to the waves. I use that time to clear my head. In my line of work things get built up in there and shark fishing is my release. I have fished my whole life mid west, hawaii, and gremany. But I have never found more peaceful place as the beach. I can't wait until the day that I came to Florida and I never have to leave again.
