Been looking around for a spinning reel for blacktips and fishing at night when I am not comfortable using my yak. Wanted atleast a penn 7500 size but found a very good condition penn 650ss for $35 shipped on ebay and couldnt let it go. How would that do for sharks up to 5ft or so. I plan on loading with braid and need to find a surf rod for it. Thanks. I couldnt find any posts on this so I made my own.

A lot of people like the Ocean Master line by bass pro. I went to get one myself to match with a Battle 7000. I ended up getting a Penn Prevail, actually 2, a 10' and 11'.
The 10' is rated 1-5oz and the 11' is rated 2-6oz. They have a 12' heavy rated 4-8oz.
I used them last weekend and liked them although I have yet to catch anything of good size on it, but so far I like them! The 10' is $79, 11' $89, and the 12' $99.

I got an Ocean master 12' and loving it. One of the better rods in that price class i have fished.
Tsunami rods? I got a three pc 9' 3" TROPHY TSTSS 1/2oz to 2 oz lure / line= 10 to 20 long butt cork tape ,I love it

a 7' 20# spin "TORNADO ROD " built on an ugly stik blank,long hvy butt perfect mated up w/ a PENN 8500SS & two anodized ,skirted spools one for 40#class lines / one for 20# class
A 6' HEAVY casting rod "SNOOK ASSASSIN" 20# custom on ugly stik blank both rods ; all FUJI ,reel seats, alum. oxide guides long hvy butt foam grips
