Got a 12' ocean master rod and a shimano Stradic FJ 8000. How would i prefer to spool it and where goes the limit to the size of sharks that i can catch with this setup.

I Recamend If Spinner Try Light Line On A Chicken Rig To Get The Feel Of It, If Conventinoal Rig It Like You Were Going To Catch Mackerals Or Cudas. Maybe Just A Trace Of Wire :?:

Was thinking in the line of sharks the reel probably can take about 300 yards of 40-50 lb wet spooled braid and have enough space for a top shot of mono. the rod got a pretty good backbone.

Yea That Sounds Like A Good Plan Use #10 or #11 Wire To Get The Feel Of It, Light Enough To Land 6ft'rs Small 2x Hooks, And A Lively Runner Or Jack

Its a great rod for the $$. You can handle a blacktip/spinner with no issuess. Braid in the range of 50 to 65lb works great with no issues and you can put a lot of pressure on the shark - good luck

IMO the reel is a tad small but I would spool it with 30lb Sufix 832 and a run a short rod length shock leader of 50-60 lb mono. 300 yards of line on a reel can disappear extremely quick so dont be be surprised if a mad BT dumps it

Yes the 8500 holds more line and would be a better choice if your going after bigger fish.

Spinning reels that can hold over 400 yards of 65lb braid or up will be better suited for bigger fish.

IMO the best affordable spinning reel to take on big sharks would be the FIN NOR OFS 9500 it holds over 500 yards of 100lb braid and will produce rod snapping drags.

Are the FIN NOR reels any good ? havn't had one myself. got mosly shimano and some other brands. Don't think FIN NOr is commonly sold in swedish tackle stores.

The 9500 is a great reel and you can't go wrong but IMO its overkill for casting to 4ft-6ft sharks. Either down size to a small Fin Nor or yak out bigger baits.

Going to be yaking out bigger baits on my penn 14/0 so don't need that kind of reel then. il stick to the stradic fj 8000.
